Busta Rhymes (POSTER ANALYSIS)

This rapper is very different to Methodman. Busta Rhymes is a lot more gangster in his rap style, the way that the poster is set out though you wouldn’t guess. The poster definitely doesn’t compliment Busta Rhymes at all, it makes him seem less significant in rap than he actually is. The colour scheme of it is all wrong, most notably because the background is white. It should be a lot darker and grittier for his style of rap. The poster is also a bit too busy. There’s too much information and branding in this poster which not only restricts the size of the image but also becomes incoherent at a glance. If someone were to pass this poster the only thing that would stand out would be “Busta Rhymes” in big red sans serif font. This is effective and helpful in its own way but everything else would go unnoticed because of it. The colour scheme is a red and black for the text. I find this problematic because red stands out a lot more in this poster. The text is made red in inappropriate places so that the essential information is overlooked and not noticed. I like the filter used on the main image of Busta Rhymes but that being said I’m struggling to find relevance. If anything the black and white filter is making him blend in more with the white background. There isn’t any advertisement of nostalgia performances or anything old so the age reference to black and white doesn’t work, but I guess the filter is purely aesthetic anyway. One thing I do like about this poster is that it provides you with information on how to book or order, something that the Methodman poster lacked. I don’t particularly like this poster overall, the layout is appropriate for a pretty boy singer not a rapper, the colour scheme is too bright and lacklustre for someone as gangster as Busta Rhymes, emphasis is placed in all the wrong places and the image is too small and has a cliché and pointless filter over it. I shall use this poster and my analysis as a sonstant reminder of what NOT to include in my groups poster.
